Husky Boarding in Kerala — Built for Arctic Dogs in a Tropical Climate
Siberian Huskies in Kerala live on the edge of heat tolerance. Boarding a Husky in a closed kennel during summer is genuinely dangerous. Neolokam's 1.5-acre farm has shaded lounging zones, a cool pool, early-morning exercise windows, and Husky-aware staff who recognise heat-stress before it becomes an emergency.
whatshotWhy Most Boarding is Unsafe for Huskies
Husky body temperature rises faster than most breeds — a 32°C Trivandrum afternoon, with a closed concrete kennel and no airflow, is enough to put a Husky into heat distress within 30–60 minutes. Standard kennel boarding has caused documented Husky deaths in tropical India.
The Husky cannot "just shed less" or "adapt to heat." Their double coat insulates against heat as well as cold, but only if the dog can move freely, find shade, lie on cool surfaces, and access water on demand. A cage cannot offer that.
How Neolokam Boards Huskies Safely
Shaded farmland with constant airflow
1.5 acres of natural canopy. Huskies choose their own shade and rest spot — they self-regulate when given the option.
Cool pool access on demand
Our pool is part of the boarding area. Huskies use it through the day, not on a schedule. Most lie in the shallow end during peak heat.
Early morning + evening exercise only
Active play between 6–9 AM and after 5 PM. Mid-day is rest period. We never run a Husky in 30°C+ ambient.
Hydration tracking
Multiple water stations. Each Husky's intake monitored. Reduced intake is the first heat stress sign.
Cool floor surfaces
Concrete is the worst surface for a Husky. The farm has soil, grass, and shaded clay floor — all cooler underfoot.
No heavy coats removed by shaving
Shaving a Husky destroys the coat and worsens heat regulation. We do not allow shaving — only undercoat raking and brushing.
Husky-aware staff
Our caretakers recognise heat panting (rapid, shallow, with widened gum colour) and intervene before any distress.

Husky Boarding FAQ
Is it safe to board a Husky during Kerala summer (April–May)?
At Neolokam, yes — with the trial visit confirming your specific Husky tolerates the environment. We do not accept Husky boardings during peak summer if the dog has known heat sensitivity, is overweight, or is older than 9. Honest answer: not every Husky should be boarded in May. We tell families when their dog is not a good fit and recommend alternatives.
My Husky is escape-prone. Can your farm contain him?
The farm has perimeter fencing rated for working dogs. Huskies are notable escape artists, so we add: trial-visit assessment of jumping/digging behaviour, secure double-gate entry, and never-unsupervised exterior time during boarding. We have not had a Husky escape — but we treat every Husky as a potential one.
Do I need to bring my Husky's own food?
Yes for any specialised diet. We feed home-cooked meals as standard, but Huskies often have specific protein sensitivities or grain allergies. If your Husky is on a particular kibble or raw diet, please bring a labelled supply for the boarding period plus 2 extra days. We feed exactly what you provide — no substitutions, no group bowl.
