Golden Retriever Boarding in Trivandrum — Built for the Coat & the Climate
Goldens are social, soft-mouthed, water-loving — and they overheat fast in Kerala. A standard cage kennel is the worst possible setting for a Golden. Neolokam's 1.5-acre shaded farmland, supervised swimming pool and humidity-controlled rest areas are designed for double-coated breeds.
What Boarding a Golden Retriever Should Look Like
Goldens have specific needs that generic kennels miss. Here is what we adjust for Goldens specifically.
Twice-daily coat checks
Goldens mat under collars and behind ears in Kerala humidity. We brush and inspect daily — not weekly.
Pool sessions, not forced bathing
Goldens self-cool in water. Our supervised pool is available daily for any Golden over 6 months.
Cool-floor rest zones
We have shaded covered rest areas with airflow. No concrete cages baking in Kerala summer.
Soft-mouthed group placement
Goldens are gentle — placed with calm dogs in our 'Saints' or 'Stars' groups, never with high-arousal players.
Hot-spot prevention protocols
Wet-coat skin issues are common in Kerala. Drying after swim, ear cleaning and coat-line checks are routine.
Diet sensitivity awareness
Many Goldens have grain or chicken sensitivities. We feed your prescribed food only — no group bowl, no surprises.
Hip-friendly surfaces
Goldens are prone to hip dysplasia. The farm is grass and soil — joint-friendly compared to tile or concrete.
Daily WhatsApp updates with photos
Owners away from a Golden need updates. We send daily photos and short videos throughout the stay.

Golden Retriever Boarding FAQ
Will my Golden's coat be okay in Kerala humidity during a long stay?
Yes — provided the boarding addresses humidity actively. We brush twice daily, dry the coat thoroughly after every swim, and inspect under collars, ears and armpits where mats and hot spots form. Most Goldens leave Neolokam with better coat condition than they arrive — owners regularly tell us this.
Can senior Goldens (8+ years) board safely?
Yes. We have specific protocols for senior dogs — quieter group placement, joint-friendly rest areas, more frequent rest breaks, and a gentler swimming routine. We require a recent vet check (within 60 days) for any senior Golden boarding more than 5 days. We can administer prescribed medications on a written schedule.
My Golden has separation anxiety. Will boarding make it worse?
Honest answer: it depends on the dog. We require a longer trial visit (2–3 sessions) for anxious Goldens before any overnight stay. The cage-free open environment, group placement and consistent daily routine usually reduce anxiety — kennel-style boarding makes it worse. If your Golden cannot settle after the third trial, we will say so and recommend daycare instead of boarding.
