What Is a Dog Farm?

The term “dog farm” describes a boarding environment built around open land, natural space, and freedom of movement — the opposite of a kennel or concrete boarding centre.

A dog farm is exactly what it sounds like: a real farm — with soil, trees, water, and open air — that also serves as a boarding environment for dogs. The difference between a dog farm and a kennel is the same difference between a field and a cage. Kennels confine. Farms liberate.

At Neolokam, the 1.5 acres of land you see on our farm are not decorative. Dogs physically walk those acres every day. They sleep under real trees. They dig in real soil. They swim in a farm pool. They encounter birds, insects, earth smells, and wind. These are not extras — they are the core experience of what makes a dog farm different.

Most pet boarding in Kerala happens in concrete structures: tiled floors, metal crates, small runs. Even the ones calling themselves “cage-free” often just mean a room without individual cages. Neolokam is the only facility in Trivandrum that operates on actual agricultural land and offers the complete farm experience for dogs.

Why Choose a Farm Over a Kennel?

Dogs are not designed for concrete boxes. They are animals built for movement, social interaction, and sensory engagement. A farm environment fulfils these needs in a way no indoor facility ever can.

psychiatry

Lower Stress & Anxiety

Open space reduces kennel stress dramatically. Dogs that become anxious in enclosed spaces thrive on a farm because they are not confined.

Real Physical Exercise

Trekking, swimming, and roaming across 1.5 acres burns energy naturally. Dogs return home tired in the best possible way.

psychology

Behavioural Benefits

Exposure to varied terrain, scents, and social groups helps dogs develop confidence and reduces reactive behaviour over time.

air

Fresh Air & Sun

No air-conditioned isolation. Dogs breathe open air, feel the sun, and maintain their natural circadian rhythm throughout their stay.

spa

Mental Stimulation

A farm is endlessly stimulating. New smells, textures, sounds, and animals (birds, insects) keep dogs engaged without overstimulation.

Happier Dogs, Calmer Owners

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a carbon capture dog farm?

Neolokam is registered agricultural land in Malayinkil, Thiruvananthapuram, actively cultivated with native Kerala tree species that sequester carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. This makes it an eco-positive farm — one that improves the environment rather than merely occupying it. Your dog boards on living, working farmland, not a cleared compound with a 'farm' label.

How big is the Neolokam farm?

The farm covers 1.5 acres of open agricultural land. This means dogs have genuine space to run, explore, trek natural trails, and rest under tree cover — not a small yard or a concrete run. For context, 1.5 acres is roughly equivalent to one full football field of open green space dedicated entirely to the dogs.

Is the farm open for public visits?

The farm is open for trial visits between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM daily. Every dog must complete a trial visit before boarding — this protects your dog and the existing farm residents. You are welcome and encouraged to walk the full farm during the trial. Call or WhatsApp 7736390719 to let us know you are coming.

What animals are on the farm besides dogs?

The farm is home to native bird species, insects, and natural wildlife typical of Kerala agricultural land. The biodiversity is part of what makes the environment genuinely stimulating for dogs — real smells, real sounds, real terrain. The farm does not house other domestic animals that would stress or endanger dogs.

Visit the Farm — 6 AM to 9 AM Daily

Trial visits are mandatory before any boarding. Come during the 6–9 AM window, bring your dog, and see the farm firsthand. No booking required for your first visit — just call ahead.
