Boarding Two Dogs Together in Trivandrum — Neolokam Accommodates Pairs

Most standard kennels separate household dogs into individual cages — often traumatic for bonded pairs. Neolokam's open 1.5-acre farm and behaviour-based groups allow dogs from the same household to board together safely, or at minimum stay on the same farm where they can sense each other.

Why Separating Bonded Dogs in Kennels Is Harmful

Two dogs who have lived together since puppyhood develop deep social bonds. Suddenly housing them in separate cages — unable to see, hear, or smell each other — is distressing for both animals.

Standard Kennel — Two Dogs

  • closeNo assessment of how dogs interact — just separated by default
  • closeOwners receive no clarity on whether dogs are comfortable

How Boarding Works for Two Dogs — Step by Step

The process for boarding two dogs together follows the same framework as single-dog boarding, with additional steps for compatibility assessment.

01

Trial Visit — Bring Both

Bring both dogs together for the trial visit (6–9 AM). We observe each dog individually and together. How they interact with the farm environment and with each other in a new setting tells us more than any description can.

Individual Assessment

Each dog receives a separate behaviour assessment — energy level, temperament, social compatibility. We do not assume two dogs from the same household have identical needs. The assessment determines appropriate grouping for each.

Grouping Decision

If compatible in energy and temperament, they board in the same group — together throughout the day. If different energy levels create a mismatch, they join separate groups on the same farm, always within olfactory range of each other.

Common Two-Dog Boarding Scenarios

Every pair is different. Here is how Neolokam handles the most common multi-dog household situations.

pets

Two Labs / Two Large Dogs

Large, high-energy sibling dogs are usually placed in the same group — they match each other in energy and provide mutual social support. Their similar play style means they integrate well with each other and with the existing high-energy group.

A Large Dog and a Smaller Dog

Size and energy difference often means different groups. The large dog goes into the appropriate energy group; the smaller dog into a size-appropriate group. Both remain on the same 1.5-acre farm — within each other's sensory range.

Two Indie Dogs (Mixed Breed)

Indies are assessed purely on temperament and socialisation history, not breed. Many well-socialised Indies board together without issue. If one is more independent and one is more anxious, separate groups with proximity are the safer option.

Two Dogs with History of Conflict

If your dogs have a history of fighting with each other — especially over resources like food or toys — tell us before the trial visit. This does not exclude them from boarding, but it changes the grouping and supervision strategy significantly.

Two-Dog Boarding — Frequently Asked Questions

Do my two dogs have to be in the same group?

Not necessarily — it depends on their behaviour assessment. If both dogs are compatible in temperament and energy level, they will be placed in the same group, which most bonded pairs strongly prefer. If one dog is calm and one is very high energy, placing them in the same group can create stress for the calmer dog. In that case, they go into different groups but remain on the same farm — they can sense each other, which provides comfort without the conflict risk.

Is pricing different for two dogs?

Each dog is assessed and priced individually. There is no automatic multi-dog discount, but we encourage you to call or WhatsApp to discuss current rates for multiple dogs from the same household. Membership plans (Essential, Villager Elite, Royal Resident) are per-dog and include 30 boarding days each — two dogs would each have their own membership.

What if my two dogs don't get along with each other?

This is more common than owners expect — two dogs who live together can still have tension in a new environment. If your dogs have a history of conflict with each other (particularly over resources), tell us before the trial visit. We will assess them separately and determine the safest grouping. Being on the same farm without being in the same play group is a viable and often successful arrangement.

Should I bring both dogs for the trial visit?

Yes, ideally. Bringing both dogs for the trial visit allows us to assess each dog's temperament in the same environment and see how they interact with the farm's existing resident dogs simultaneously. It also saves time — one trial visit for both rather than two separate visits. Call or WhatsApp to book a slot for two dogs.
