Labrador Boarding in Trivandrum — A Real Job, A Real Pool, Real Care
Labradors are India's most popular family dog and the most likely to leave a kennel five kilos heavier than they arrived. Neolokam runs a Labrador-specific boarding programme on 1.5 acres of farmland — daily structured exercise, supervised pool sessions, calorie-counted feeding, and the cage-free space the breed needs.
scaleThe Labrador Weight Problem
A 2016 study at the University of Cambridge identified a genetic mutation (POMC) in roughly 25% of Labradors and 65% of working-line yellow Labs that directly increases food motivation and reduces satiety signals. In short — your Lab is genetically programmed to never feel full. Most Labs in Trivandrum apartments are already 15–20% above ideal body weight before any boarding stay.
Generic kennels feed scheduled meals but pay no attention to total calorie intake including treats, group-bowl access and stolen food. The result: a Lab returns from boarding visibly heavier. Our protocol addresses this directly. Every Lab is weighed at check-in, fed only owner-prescribed portions in solo feeding pens, and weighed again at check-out. Most Labs leave the same weight or lighter than arrival.
Inside Labrador Boarding at Neolokam
Daily structured exercise
90 minutes of movement minimum across morning swim, scent-work session, and evening farm play. We build a daily schedule, not random play.
Pool access for retrieving
Labs were bred to retrieve from water. Our supervised pool offers daily fetch sessions — joint-friendly and breed-natural.
Solo-pen feeding
Each Lab eats in a separate pen. No group-bowl scrambling, no stolen food. Owner's prescribed kibble or wet diet only.
Treat-counted training
Treats are calorie-counted into the daily food total. No 'just one more' — the breed cannot self-regulate, and we don't ask it to.
Weight check-in / check-out
Calibrated digital scale at intake and exit. Weight written on the boarding record. Difference flagged on the daily report.
Joint-care surfaces
Grass, soil and tile rest areas. No concrete runs. Joints protected especially for Labs over 6 years.
Group play with calm Labs
Most Labs play well together. We pair compatible energy levels and watch closely for any rough escalation.
Daily WhatsApp updates
Photos, short swim and play videos, and a one-line note about how your Lab spent the day. Every single day of the stay.

Labrador Boarding FAQ
How do you stop Labradors from over-eating during boarding?
Strict portion control. We feed only the food and quantity you provide written on intake. Labs are placed in feeding pens during meal times — no stealing from other dogs. Treats are calorie-counted into the daily total. Most Labs leave Neolokam at the same weight or lighter, never heavier.
Can my Labrador swim every day?
Yes — supervised, in our pool, after a 90-minute trial visit confirming swim confidence. Swimming is the perfect Labrador exercise: low-impact on joints, cools the body, satisfies the breed's water-retrieving genetics. Most Labs swim once or twice daily during their stay.
My Lab has hip or elbow dysplasia. Can he board safely?
Yes, with a written vet care plan. We adjust exercise to swimming and gentle walks, avoid jumping, and place the dog in a ground-level shaded run. We administer prescribed medications on schedule. We have boarded Labs aged 10+ with diagnosed dysplasia comfortably.
Will my Lab make friends with other dogs?
Most likely yes. Labs are social by genetics. After a successful trial visit, we place compatible Labs together for play sessions. Some Labs prefer solo or paired stays — we respect that and never force grouping.
