Last-minute and emergency dog boarding in Trivandrum: the fastest honest route

People search for last-minute dog boarding when something has gone wrong: a parent is admitted to hospital, there has been a death in the family, a work trip came up overnight, or the person who usually minds the dog has fallen ill. At Neolokam, every dog has a trial visit and temperament assessment before its first stay, must have up-to-date rabies and core vaccinations with the record, current tick and parasite prevention as advised by the vet, and must be comfortable around other dogs. These checks protect your dog and every dog already staying. They cannot be skipped in a hurry, but they can be done quickly if you move fast.

We cannot promise a same-day stay. Whether there is room depends on how full the farm is and on how your dog does at the visit.

Do these in order, and do the first two right now, even before you know your exact plans:

• Send a clear photo of the vaccination card, with the rabies and core vaccination dates visible, and the date of the last tick and parasite treatment.
• Ask for the earliest trial visit slot. The farm is open 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily and visits are by appointment.
• Bring your dog to the farm in Kollodu, via Malayinkil, east of the city towards Kattakada, with the original vaccination card, food, medicines and a lead.
• If your dog does well at the visit and there is space, the team will tell you what can be arranged and when.

If you cannot drive out yourself, ask about pickup. Pickup and drop-off are by appointment for confirmed bookings from 16 localities, and the team confirms the route, timing and any charge.

Keep the list that fits your situation on your phone.

If you are going into hospital, or caring for someone who is:

• Name one relative or friend who can answer the team's questions and collect the dog if needed.
• Write down your vet's name and number, any medicines with dose instructions from your vet, and allergies.
• Leave a key or arrange a handover with a neighbour if someone else will bring the dog.

If there is a family emergency or a death in the family:

• Send dates as a range, even if they are rough. An open-ended stay can be planned at the long-term daily rate.
• Pack the dog's usual food, bowl and a familiar blanket or toy.

If you have to travel at short notice:

• Share flight or train times so the trial visit and drop-off fit around them.
• If you are leaving the country, read the NRI boarding notes and name a local contact.

This is the most common reason an urgent stay cannot go ahead. If the rabies or core vaccinations are overdue, or the card is lost:

• Call your vet today. Ask whether a booster can be given now and whether the clinic can issue a new or duplicate record.
• Ask your vet how long your dog should wait after vaccination before mixing with other dogs, and tell the team what the vet said.
• Give tick and parasite prevention as your vet advises if that is also due.
• Send the updated card to the team on WhatsApp as soon as you have it.

While you sort this out, a trusted relative or neighbour who already knows your dog is usually the safest stop-gap for a day or two. It is better to arrive a little later with a proper record than to put your dog, or anyone else's, at risk.
